1.       Comparativo de igualdade

Esta casa é tão velha quanto a minha

Um tigre é tão perigoso quanto um leão.

2    2.  Comparativos de igualdade em sentenças negativas:

John is not so fat as you.

John não é tão gordo quanto você.

3    3- Comparativo de superioridade

• Com adjetivos monossilábicos

Os adjetivos de uma sílaba e de duas terminadas em Y, ER, LE e OW recebem terminações .... ER THAN

-My brother is taller than my father.

Meu irmão é mais alto do que meu pai

-George is deverer than David

George é mais esparto do que David.

•  Com adjetivo que termina em Y após consoante, o Y muda para I antes de escrever ER.

James is happier than I.

James é mais feliz do que eu

·         Com adjetivo que termina em Y após vogal, apenas acrescente “ER THAN”

She was gayer than her sister.

Ela era mais alegre do que sua irmã

• Com adjetivo monossilábico que termina em E, acrescente apenas R.

He is braver than you (brave – braver).

Ele é mais bravo do que você

·         Com adjetivo formado/ou que termina C-V-C* dobre a última letra antes do acréscimo ER THAN

C-V-C :  consoante, vogal e consoante

•         Comparativo de inferioridade é formado pela anteposição de LESS ( = menos) e pela proposição de THAN ( do que) à forma original do adjetivo.

·         LESSS = MENOS (Antes de adjetivo ou de substantive incontável)
