MODAL VERBS
Are these ideas Present Simple, Future or Both?
1 - I can party until the early hours of the morning. Present
2- I can't live without my cellphone. Present
I can live without my cellphone for a while, but it's kind of important.
I can't live without my mobile phone because I'm using it on a daily basic.

3- Someone in my family can speak 3 languages.
4- I could go skydiving this weekend, if someone else wanted to do. Future - this weekend
5 - I should be at home snoozing right now.

6 - I ought to go to the Rockies before I return home to my country. future
7 - I had better hit the beach for some sun before it's gone. 
8- I have pick up a few souvenirs.
9 - Any student who is on their phone, must be lazy. Present
11 - My parents don't have to keep in touch with me everyday. keep in touch - amntem contato. Present idea. Acontece todo dia
12- This grammar might be difficult for me. Present
13 - I may be late for tomorrow's class - future - tomorro

GERÚNDIO COM NEED - CAUSATIVES VERBS: MAKE, HAVE, GET – INFINITIVE

GERÚNDIO COM NEED

(AULA: ed x ing E gerúndio need)             

Normalmente usamos need com infinitivo:

I need to paint my house.
John needs to be told the truth.

Porém algumas vezes podem os usar need com o gerúndio. Esses casos normalmente temos a oração na voz passiva e em situações que envolvem fixing or improving something (concertar melhorar alguma coisa).
Ex: My house needs paiting.
My house needs to be paiting.
               

Exercicio com need – gerúndio - infinitivo
A cadeira está quebrada. Preciso consertá-lo. A cadeira precisa ser concertada.
The chair is broken. I need to fix it. The chair needs fixing (ou to be fixed).
A fralda do bebê está molhada. Ele precisa ser trocada.
The baby’s diaper is wet. It needs to be changed (ou changing)
Que bagunça! Este quarto precisa de ser limpo.
Que bagunça! Este quarto precisa de ser limpo (ou limpeza).
Há um buraco no nosso telhado. O telhado precisa ser reparado.
There is a hole in our roof. The roof needs to be repaired. (ou repairing)

CAUSATIVES VERBS: MAKE, HAVE, GET – INFINITIVE


MADE
I made my brother carry my suitcase. Eu fiz meu irmão carregar minha mala.
Ex: Meu irmão não tinha escolha. Eu insitei que ele carrega minha mala.
Make – forçar alguém a fazer alguma coisa.
Usamos sem o to, o verbo na forma simples.
Ex: Mother, I'm an adult, you can't make me wear those stupid clothes.
               
HAVE
Ex:I had my brother carry my suitcase.
Meu irmão carregava minha mala porque eu pedi a ele.
Have – dar a responsabilidade para alguém de fazer alguma coisa.
Ex: Jones, have the secretary choose some flowers for my wife.

GET
Ex: I got my brother to carry my suitcase.
Consegui persuadir meu irmão a carregar a mala.
Got – convencer alguém a fazer alguma coisa.
Ex: I can't never get my husband to cook dinner.

LET
Seguido do verbo na forma simples sem o to:
Permitir que alguém faça algo.
Ex: Let them eat cake.
Ex: My father lets me drive his car.
EX: I let my friend borrow my bicicle.
Ex: If Peter does all his homework, I will let him play with your friends.
*é pouco comum , mas pode estar seguido de verbo no infinitivo.

HAVE e GET
Quando o past particle é usado, temos um significado de voz passiva. E neste caso as palavras have e get tem o mesmo significado.
I had my watch repaired.
I got my watch repaired.



Exercicio: have, made, get – gerúndio , infinitivo.
Eu fiz meu filho lavar as janelas antes que ele pudesse ir para fora para jogar.
I made my son wash the windows before he could go outside to play.
A Sra. Crane fez pintar a casa dela.
Mrs. Crane had her house painted.
Eu fui ao banco para ter um cheque descontado.
I went to the bank to have a check cashed.
Quando meu laptop parou de funcionar, eu levei para a loja de informática para tê-lo corrigido.
When my laptop stopped working, I took it to the computer store to have it fixed.
Descascar cebolas sempre me faz chorar.
Peeling onions always makes me cry.
Tivemos um fotógrafo profissional tirar fotografias de todos no casamento.
We had a professional photographer take pictures of everyone at the wedding.
Tínhamos mais de 500 fotos tiradas.
We had over 500 pictures taken.
