as vezes present participle e past participle são adjetivos.
Adjetivo descreve um nome.
Advérbio descreve um verbo.

I'm married.

The movie was pretty boring.

BIG / SMALL
(Tamanho)
Use grande e pequeno para falar sobre o tamanho geral de algo.

Ex:
Elephants are big. (Elefantes são grandes)
Mice are small. ( Ratos são pequenos)
Observação: Com roupas e alimentos, usamos large (grande), não big (grande):

I ordered a big coffee with milk.  ERRADO
I ordered a large coffee with milk. CORRETO    

“This shirt is too small for me.”

Huge / Tiny
(Tamanho)
Huge = Very big
Tiny = Very small
Huge = enorme, bastante

Their new house is huge! I think it has 50 rooms.
Sua nova casa é enorme! Penso que tem 50 quartos.

“Do you want any cake?” “Just a tiny piece. I’m on a diet.”
"Você quer algum bolo?" "Apenas um pequeno pedaço. Estou de dieta."


Huge  pode siginificar enorme, forte no sentido de grande, grande, “gigantesco”.
Extremamente grande em tamanho ou quantidade:

Uma enorme floresta

Um estacionamento enorme

Eles fizeram enormes lucros em imóveis.

Long / short
Longo e curto

Use long e short para falar sobre comprimento (distância horizontal). Você também pode usar long e short com o tempo, livros, palavras / frases, cabelo e pernas:

The line to buy tickets for the concert is very long. There are hundreds of people waiting.
A linha para comprar bilhetes para o concerto é muito longa. Há centenas de pessoas esperando.

The movie is really long – about three hours.
O filme é muito longo - cerca de três horas.

That book is quite long – it has about 500 pages.
Esse livro é bastante longo - tem cerca de 500 páginas.

She has short blonde hair and gorgeous long legs.
Tem o cabelo louro curto e as pernas longas lindas.

Nota: Há duas maneiras de falar sobre distância – – far or a long way (longe ou um longo caminho).

TALL / SHORT
Alto e baixo

Short – significa baixo ou curto.

Tall e short para falar de altura (distância vertical) - especialmente com as pessoas, mas às vezes também com edifícios e árvores.


My brother is really tall.

New York City has a lot of tall buildings.

There are many tall trees in the Amazon rain forest.

SMOOTH

Smooth significa “suave” na tradução literal da língua inglesa, mas também pode ser traduzido como “macio”, “fácil”, “calmo” ou “liso”.
Como adjetivo, “smooth” ainda pode significar “plano”, “liso”, “macio”, “polido” ou “impressionante” (um elogio agradável). Já sob a forma de verbo, “tosmooth” pode ser traduzido como “polir”, “acariciar”, “alisar”, “aplainar” ou “amaciar”.
Em inglês, a palavra “smooth” pode ser utilizada para representar a tranquilidade ou suavidade nas ações de alguém. A expressão “smoothsailing”, por exemplo, também é usada no sentido de transmitir a facilidade, a tranquilidade ou moleza na realização de algo.
A música “Smooth Criminal” é o single do sétimo álbum do cantor e compositor Michael Jackson, Bad, de 1987. O videoclipe de Smooth Criminal faz parte do filme Moonwalker, lançado em 1988.
Não confundir “smooth” com “smoothie”, sendo este último um tipo de bebida refrescante espessa, feita a partir de frutas batidas com água e muito gelo. Os smoothies ou batidos (em português) são muito comuns e populares nas estações mais quentes do ano
