GET  GOT  

Get é um dos verbos mais usados em inglês. Ele pode ter vários significados como podemos ver adiante:

Agora vamos aos significados:

Obter, conseguir:

EX: I got a promotion. (Eu consegui uma promoção.)

Entender, expressão: I get it:

EXs: I get it !  (Eu entendi)                          

       Did you get it? Yeah, I got it. (Você entendeu? Sim, eu entendi)

Dar:

I will get David a book. (Eu vou dar para o David um livro)

Receber:

Did you get my email?

What did you get for your birthday? (O que você ganhou de aniversário?)

Convencer:

She got her mom to buy her a car. (Ela convenceu sua mão a comprar um carro)

Chegar:

I got home late last night. ( Eu cheguei tarde em casa na noite passada)

I have to get a new job. (Eu tenho que conseguir um novo emprego.)

Comprar:

EXS: I need to go to supermarket to get some milk.

        Where did you get that dress?

Pedir, usar a expressão: get someone to:

I will get my husband to pick up Mateus. ( Eu vou pedir o meu marido para pegar o Mateus)

Ficar,  no sentido de “tornar-se” como o verbo became:

EXS: I got sick last week. (Eu fiquei doente na semana passada)

        Daniel got rich working a lot. (Daniel ficou rico traballhando muito)

Ficar, no sentido de “estado emocional”:

Eu não digo : I stay sad.

Eu digo: I get sad.

Ex: I got very happy when you arrived. ( Eu fiquei muito feliz quando você chegou)

 

Usado como o verbo to be, sere star:

He got killed by the police. (Ele foi morto pela polícia.)

Você também pode dizer He was killed by the police.

Get seria uma maneira mais informal.

Get alone – se dar bem
